The history of Thanstrøm Bil AS dates all the way back to 1924, when the business was first established in Fredrikshald. Just a few years later, the company became a car dealership in the centre of Halden, following an inquiry from General Motors about starting vehicle sales in the region.

Since then, the company has evolved alongside the market, while maintaining what defines a strong local business: close customer relationships, solid expertise, and the ability to adapt to changing needs.

Today, Thanstrøm Bil is located at Båstadlund in Halden and is considered one of Norway’s oldest car dealerships.

Extensive experience – with a forward-looking mindset

Over the decades, the company has gone through growth, name changes, and mergers.
