Numbers from SSB tell us that more and more women are becoming leaders! But still, there is a long way to go for equality. We are proud of all the women in our Paxster team, in an industry that is highly male-dominated. March 8th is International Women’s Day, and we have asked some of our female employees how it is to work in an industry where the majority is men.
Name: Renate Nordsted
What do you do at Paxster?
I am a purchaser.
How long have you been working here?
Since November 2020, but I started to work at Loyds back in 2005.
What is it like to be a woman in a male-dominated industry?
I feel that it is easier to be myself and to have my own opinions. There is room for a good joke, and as an outgoing girl, I have found my place and I am having a great time at work. I am very satisfied with the job I have as well.
International Women’s Day – what does it mean to you?
Actually, I think it’s sad that we even need a women’s day. It should be obvious that everyone should have the same possibilities when you have the same qualifications.
Name: Justyna Borkowska
What do you do at Paxster?
I work mostly with pre-assembly, but I also work in production.
How long have you been working here?
A little more than a year.
What is it like to be a woman in a male-dominated industry?
The funny thing is that I don’t even think about the fact that I work in a male-dominated industry. During the last year, more women have been hired. I love that we are building up a mixed team. We learn from each other and are having fun at the same time!
International Women’s Day – what does it mean to you?
In my home country, this is a very popular day. Traditionally at this day, women are much appreciated for all the things they do, which no one notices. Of course, it should be like that all year round, but March 8th is our lucky day! That doesn’t mean that men don’t deserve their own day, they definitely do. November 19th is their day, so they have to wait a little bit longer.

What is it like to be a woman in a male-dominated industry?
Despite the fact that today we are few women who work in Paxster in relation to men, I feel there is room for wanting diversity and therefore there is also room to be heard and taken seriously. The work environment at Paxster is very good with respect and humor hand in hand!
International Women’s Day – what does it mean to you?
I have never stood up and fought for women’s rights. But we still have a long way to go when it comes to equal pay for equal work and female participation in boards and politics in Norway. International Women’s Day is a day of solidarity where we are celebrating women in all parts of the world, but at the same time, it is a day that reminds us of what we still have to fight for when it comes to development, democracy, and human rights.
Congratulations to all the women out there!
